DLD is extremely happy to congratulate to the launch of the German HuffPo! In partnership with TOMORROW FOCUS AG, HuffPo’s legendary mix of news, blogging, community, and social engagement will be carried on in the German edition, which will be both a news outlet and a platform that captures the unique perspectives, voices and spirit of the local people. The editorial powerhouse FOCUS Online, Germany's fastest growing news portal in combination with one of the biggest local ad networks, will chip in forces to speed up the growth and enhance the quality.
Arianna Huffington has been a long-time DLD friend, previous speaker on several occasions, the Aenne Burda Award Laureate 2012, and, since 2012, co-chairwoman of the DLDwomen conference series. This partnership is a great DLD success story, too, where everything has started and the initial connection was made. Disloyal to our motto “Connect the Unexpected” this partnership between HuffPo and TOFAG is quite an obvious couple and love at first sight. No shit, Sherlock!
Arianna Huffington notes, that “(w)e are thrilled to be partnering with TOFAG to launch the German edition of the Huffington Post. TOFAG is deeply involved in virtually every sector of digital content in Germany, and there is no one we'd rather be partnering with for this expansion. With their online publishing expertise and deep knowledge of German culture, TOFAG and Burda are uniquely positioned to help us tell the stories people care about most - and, just as important, help Germans tell their stories themselves." HuffPo’s CEO Jimmy Maymann adds, that "(m)ore than any other German publishing house, TOFAG has mastered its online transition and built a brand portfolio that is not only wide and deep, but reflects and complements The HuffPo's goals and core values."
Returning the compliment, Christoph Schuh (TOFAG board member) says, "we are very proud to be part of the worldwide success story of The Huffington Post, one of the most innovative and well-known news and opinion platforms. With the HuffPo, we will create a new media brand in the German market that stands for high quality online journalism combined with the transparency and immediacy of social media, following the example of the HuffPo in the USA, in France, Italy, Spain, Canada and UK."
"The German HuffPo is not another news portal - it's a platform for engagement", says Oliver Eckert, Managing Director of TOFAG Media. "It provides our audience with a social experience, bringing fresh voices to the German media landscape. We need journalists that will fit this new media paradigm."
Further details will be announced at a press conference in Munich during DLDwomen 2013 (July 15-16, 2013), which Arianna Huffington is co-chairing once again.
